Our Use of Second Life
The Ohio project team is exploring the new and exciting digital environment of Second Life to investigate the platform for flexibility in the areas of synchronous and asynchronous learning, simulations and collaboration opportunities for our students in the Matrix project. We are interested in the potential of this platform to stretch the boundaries of traditional learning for both teachers and students. We have been working on the Ohio Learning Network’s (OLN) Virtual Island in Second Life to develop proof of concept structures, activities and interactions that present students with new ways to engage mathematics learning. We are securing a private island in Teen Second Life for the middle school students in our MATRIX Learning Project.
